Mary Rachel Platt has been practicing meditation and yoga since 1971. She is a nationally certified yoga instructor (E-RYT-500) in Amrit Yoga, as taught by Yogi Amrit Desai, certified Yoga Therapist (PYT 500) in Integrative Yoga Therapy as taught by Joseph and Lillian LePage, and a member of Yoga Alliance. In addition, she holds certifications as a Yoga Ed Instructor and Yoga Nidra Facilitator. She is also a Qigong instructor certified by the Santa Cruz Chi Center under master Lee Holden. A professional storyteller since 1989, Mary often uses folk tales and myths to enhance her teaching, especially in her work with children and adolescents. John C. Platt began his martial arts training in High School in 1966 in the art of Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karate of Japanese origin. When he moved to Colorado in 1968, he began training with his teacher, Al Dacascos in Chinese classical martial arts. John trained under Sifu Dacascos for many years, specializing in several southern style kung fu systems such as Sil Lum Pai and Fu Hak (Tiger Crane) and was promoted to third degree Black Belt in 1985 under the umbrella of the International Kajukenbo Association. During this time John also spent several years mastering the Philippine stick fighting art of Escrima, under Grandmaster Glenn Abrescy in California. In 1989 he began training in Tai Chi Chuan under Sifu Gil Malave, a student of the late Sifu Jou Tsung Hwa. John currently trains with Shifu Jiang Jian-ye in Albany. He is a certified Tai Chi and Qigong instructor, as well as a Health Preservation Association (HPA) teacher, under the auspices of the Capital District Tai Chi and Kung Fu Association of New York. He is also a Qigong instructor certified by the Santa Cruz Chi Center under master Lee Holden. John has been practicing meditation since 1973, and recently retired from a 36 year career as English teacher at various private schools in the Northeast.
